Mandi the Manatee

mandi the manateeMandi the Manatee has been swimming through the local business listings in the Florida Business Directory. She’s a busy bee stopping to say hello at various companies along the way. Although Mandi has been around for a very long time, she still feels like a kid at heart. She keeps bouncing from place to place, checking out the who’s who in town and finding new places to explore within the sunshine state. We need to find her….

Can you help us find Mandi?

From time to time she gives us clues on how to find her. When she does, we will pass them along to our Florida friends to help in the search. If you find her with the clues given, respond to us immediately for your reward. Each week will new rewards will be given to the first person who finds her!

This Week’s Clues

Mandy is resting now. Come back tomorrow to see if she’s out and about.

Did You Know?

Did you know that the manatee capital of the United States is in Crystal River, Florida. Crystal River is just shy of two hours north of Clearwater and about an hour away from Ocala. Crystal River is located in Citrus County. If you have never visited the area, it’s a must! Manatees, just like Mandi can be found in shallow waterways within the sunshine state. Places like slow moving rivers, canals, saltwater bays and coastal areas are the most populated areas and the winter months are when there are the most concentrated. However, manatees can be found year round in Florida.

These gentle giants are about 10 feet long and weigh between 800 and 1,200 pounds as adults. Probably because of their size, they are very slow moving mammals. They can typically be found eating their normal vegetation diet, resting and swimming. Manatees just like Mandi can swim up to 20 miles per hour but only in short bursts, so they usually only swim about three to five miles per hour!
