Florida Dance Theatre Lakeland, Florida

Florida Dance Theatre in Lakeland, Polk County’s only professional dance company and training academy, is celebrating its 26th anniversary. Formerly known as Lakeland Ballet, Florida Dance Theatre was founded in 1993 by artistic director, Carol Krajacic Erks.

Florida artists along with professional dancers from around the United States, Russia, Puerto Rico, and Mexico have made Florida Dance Theatre a thriving, powerful, and positive arts organization dedicated to the highest quality in performance, instruction, and community education. The auxiliary training academy offers a curriculum of instruction in classical ballet, jazz, modern, and more. The faculty of the Academy of Florida Dance Theatre is drawn from the ranks of the professional company and other area professionals ensuring the students a credible source of insight and experience.

Our Mission

The mission of the Academy of Florida Dance Theatre is to allow each student, regardless of age, proficiency level, or aspiration, to obtain the correct training and experience necessary to fully enjoy dance as a living art form. The close affiliation with the professional company gives the students of the Academy, whether or not they intend to pursue dance as a career, the chance to fully experience the self enriching benefits of rigorous training, physical and mental discipline, and artistic expression all on a journey that is enjoyable and fulfilling.

Florida Dance Theatre, recognizing the importance of artistic influence on the development and growth of our children and community, strives to increase awareness and appreciation of dance as a living art form and to produce works of high artistic quality in a wide variety of styles. Our continuing purpose is to provide an enriching and unique, if not superb, multicultural experience for our community and beyond.

I want to say a special thank you to jermaine for always looking out for the safety of not just my girls but all of the children. Walking children out and making sure they get to their parents safely.
