Here’s something you may not have known….

Taste of History – Written 2-27-24. The United States has come a long way from the dirt floors found in homes a few centuries ago. It wasn’t until around 8000 BC that the concept of flooring was even born. People began moving from caves to live and work in roundhouses. Due to the size of the structures and the types of artefacts that have been recovered during excavations, roundhouses would most likely have been used as both living and work spaces. At some point during the Middle Ages, concrete or stone floors began appearing in more structures because they were considered practical. Flooring wasn’t always a builder’s first thought in the construction of a new building or home. For many years, dirt floors were the norm in early American homes, it was the easiest option. In the late Middle Ages, as land became more valuable wood became the material of choice. Particularly for second-floors though, as people would build up rather than out.

We invite you to explore Florida and discover the beauty within.
