Mayo is a charming little town located in north Florida at the intercession of Hwy 27 and State Road 51. With a population of just over 1,200 residents, it’s one of the smallest towns in the sunshine state. However, it is the county seat of Lafayette County. Visitors typically are either traveling through or planning a trip to nearby to the Peacock Springs State Park or the Lafayette Blue Springs State Park. There is a bike trail in town that will take you to the Gulf coast fishing village of Steinhatchee so for all you bicycle enthusiasts, it’s a great bike ride. Although many would assume that the Mayo Clinic was located in the small town, it is not. The clinic is actually located in Jacksonville, Florida about two hours away.
