Jasper, Florida – A Hidden North Florida Gem

Jasper

Set in the lowlands of North Florida is a small city called Jasper. This area is made up of only 2.3 square miles and is a great place to stop for gas or a quick bite while traveling. US Routes 41 and US 129 run through center of town and will take you to places like White Springs, Lake City and Jennings.

If you are lucky enough to call this place home, your roots will be planted within the county seat of Hamilton County. With a population of less than five thousand, this phosphate mining community is a true Florida gem.

If you are looking for something to do while visiting the area, the Old Hamilton County Jail ( which is now the Hamilton County Historical Museum ) is always a cool place to see. As well as the United Methodist Church. They are both on the National Register of Historic Places. Restuarants with home cooked meals, a Chevy dealership, a trust worthy auto repair shop, and a hardware store make up this quiet community.

90 miles west of Jacksonville, 85 miles east of Tallahassee, 32 miles southeast of Valdosta, Georgia, and 30 miles northwest of Lake City.

Just a quick jump to Interstate 75 with two ramps in the area. Exit 451 (US 129) is 5 miles south of town, and Exit 460 (Florida State Road 6) is 7 miles west of town.
