For history buffs, there are a lot of historic sites in Citrus County, Florida. The Yulee Sugar Mill State Park in Homosassa is one of the best spots to visit. The sugar mill ( pictured on this page ) was once the site of a sugar plantation owned by David Levy Yulee and produced the sugar, syrup and molasses to make rum. It was used to supply troops during the Civil War. The mill has been abandoned since the Civil War but is still in great shape.
