Babson Park is a CDP in Polk County, Florida. Located between Lake Wales and Frostproof, this tiny area is made up of only one and a half square miles of land. Crooked Lake is located on one of the highest peninsulas in Florida, on Lake Wales Ridge. Originally known as Caloosa Lake by the Indians, Crooked Lake is one of the largest lakes in Polk County with a maximum depth of 45 feet. This is a favorite fishing spot in Florida for bass fishing, fishing tournaments and water sport activities. The lake is located west of Babson Park, north and west of Hillcrest Heights and east of Crooked Lake Park.

The history of Webber International University: Grace Knight and Roger W. Babson founded the Webber International University in 1927. It was originally established as a women’s only college, with the sole purpose of teaching women about business. Webber was also the first school chartered under the educational and charitable laws of the State of Florida as a non-profit organization. The college began accepting male students in 1971. During the 1980s the Sabbagh Athletic Center was added to provide excellent facilities for volleyball and basketball. Expanding even more in the 1990’s, the school became a member of NAIA and the Florida Sun Conference. Webber women participate on the intercollegiate level in the soccer, volleyball, tennis, fast-pitch softball, cross-country, golf, track and field while Webber men compete in cross-country, soccer, basketball, tennis, baseball, golf, track and field and football.
